My Piano Teacher Mrs. Asaoka

"This is based off of my childhood experience of taking piano lessons from this lady named Mrs.Asaoka. She always slapped my hands if I missed keys(well…., I never practiced home…) and told me I sounded like a little piglet when I sang. (yes, she really said it!) She was probably a nice person and wanted me to play well but my child’s instinct just didn’t accept her garish dresses and marble angel statues by the gate of her house…. Man, I think I would have been playing in Carnegie Hall instead of drawing cartoons today if my genius music talent hadn’t been destroyed by this traumatic experience!"

Preview #1--Toy Thief

------you can see that my work in this show is all based on my childhood memories. This is one painful memory of me stealing toys from my friend who had many many toys. I was so envious that I "borrowed" a toy every time I went to visit him. I returned it the next time I went there and came back with another toy. I thought he didn't mind since he had so many. At one point, my friend told me " please don't steal my toys" right on my face. I was probably 5 and my friend was 6. I was so embarrassed and traumatized to this day. I never stole anything since...I don't think...--------Dice Tsutsumi
